Málaga Airport Sees The Spanish Mainland’s Strongest Recovery In International Traffic

  If you have been wondering just how much of a ‘hit’ the Costa del Sol area of Spain is among overseas visitors at this point after the acute phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, the short answer is… a big one!  Indeed, according to a recent SUR in English report, tourism in the southern Spanish region is gradually edging its way back to pre-pandemic levels, to the extent that the number of foreign passengers arriving at Málaga Airport during the first four months of 2022 was 82% of the level seen prior to the coronavirus crisis. Official Data Shows Hotel Stays In Málaga Province Returned To Pre-COVID Levels During July

  The post-pandemic recovery job is continuing for tourism on the Costa del Sol, at least if newly released statistics are to go by.  As SUR in English has recently reported, the National Statistics Institute (INE) for Spain has issued data in relation to the number of visitors and overnight stays in hotels during the month of July. The data showed that Málaga province fared well in this regard, with people from both within and beyond Spain heading to the region’s towns, cities, and beaches in strength over the summer.  To be more specific, as far as Málaga province – which includes the Costa del Sol – was concerned, slightly more than 2.5 million overnight stays were recorded for the month.
